‘Steel, in whatever form, is an indispensable part of our daily life. Whether we eat, travel, work or recreate; steel plays a role in everything we do. Maybe it’s going too far to say that our product is a necessity of life. But it does not make that much of a difference.’ 

That is how international group Tata Steel introduces itself on it’s website.  Meanwhile Tata Steel is an Indian company, but originally the steel company was founded in 1918 in IJmuiden, as Koninklijke Nederlandse Hoogovens en Staalfabrieken NV. And that name sounds familiar to many people.

In Maastricht the company produces, revises and distributes high-quality pipes for construction, transport and engineering under the name Tata Steel Tubes. But also the steel bench in the square in your village could have been delivered by this steel specialist.

Tata Steel Tubes in Maastricht is one of our valuable clients. We prefer to call them one of our cooperation partners, because that describes the working method of Budé best and is also confirmed by Jos Berg, head of electrical services of Tata Steel.

‘Our team is responsible for programming and controlling so-called PLC systems. Compare these electronic devices with digital computers. With these systems you can automate machines or production lines.

Small improvements we do inhouse, but if the size or complexity of the task is too big, we call Budé. For the past 10 years Budé is a permanent partner.’

Ten years already, the partnership must meet your requirements?

‘Sure’, Jos Berg replies. ‘Budé is an autonomous company and the Budé team identifies itself well in the task. Budé thinks along with us, is critical and comes up with own input if they consider that the assignment can be performed even better. With this commitment we are of course very happy.’

In consistent steps the preparation and implementation process is taken care of. A phase is completed only if it meets all strict requirements.  I can even go on a holiday during a realization phase, fully relying on a good implementation phase by Budé.’

Tata Steel Tubes makes a transition from a generalistic company to a specialist. Focused on high-quality ‘specials’. ‘ Ultimately the bar is set higher and this high quality standard also has consequences for our cooperation partners. Fortunately Budé still answers to our high expectations’.
